Earlier this month the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced two new models from the CMS Innovation Center. The Beneficiary Engagement and Incentives (BEI) Models — the Shared Decision Making Model and the Direct Decision Support Model — which will test different approaches to shared decision making, acknowledging that beneficiaries make decisions regarding treatment options in a variety of ways. One of the agency’s goals to help transform our health care system into one that delivers better care, smarter spending, healthier people, and puts individuals at the center.
