The Health Education and Literacy (HEAL) Program® from Literacy for Life addresses health literacy through classes for adults seeking to improve their health care knowledge and thorough training for medical professionals. The HEAL presentations engage medical providers in a discussion about health literacy, and the HEAL classes focus on patient engagement and empowerment. The 45-minute presentation for medical personnel raises awareness of the importance of effective and respectful communication with patients. The HEAL classes cover important topics such as appropriate use of emergency services, how to read prescription labels and the importance of prevention and screenings. For more information, visit the HEAL Program® website and watch the 6-minute overview video.
