Reports to Influence Healthy Communities

The American Psychological Association recently released a report titled, Stress and Health Disparities: Contexts, Mechanisms, and Interventions Among Racial/ Ethnic Minority and Low Socioeconomic Status Populations. This report presents research discussing stress as a contributor to health disparities. Included is information about how stress influences health disparities, the chronic diseases linked to disproportionate stress and selected interventions that can be used to address stress related disparities.

In relation to healthy communities, the American Planning Association (APA) recently released the Healthy Communities Policy Guide. This guide discusses the role of community planning in addressing the social determinants of health. This report also highlights metrics that can be used to measure success when planning a healthy community.
