Physical Activity and Quality of Life in Adults with Intellectual and DevelopmentalĀ Disabilities
When: November 9, 2016, 1:00 PM ET
Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) are now living longer than ever before. Advances in national and family social supports and improvements in healthcare have enabled individuals with IDD to lead healthier and more productive lives. However, disparities still remain, which can lead to challenges in ensuring quality of care and support. Healthy behaviors, including exercise and physical activity, have demonstrated some health benefits. During this webinar, speakers will provide perspectives on the importance of exercise and physical activity, and will review how their respective organizations are engaged in this area.
The webinar speakers will include Seth M. Keller, MD, Co-Chair National Task Group on Intellectual Disabilities and Dementia Practices; Tamar Heller, PhD professor and head of the Department of Disability and Human Development, University of Illinois at Chicago; and Darcie Mersereau, Vice President, Health Programs, Special Olympics International.
