Connect with NNLM MAR at an Upcoming Conference

The staff of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Middle Atlantic Region, is hitting the road! Please introduce yourself at any of these meetings. If you would like to schedule a few minutes to speak with us about your projects and partnership opportunities, please contact us.

New Jersey League for Nursing: Health Professions Coordinator Erin Seger will present “Not So Fast Dr. Google: Finding Trusted Health Information Online” at the New Jersey League for Nursing annual conference in Atlantic City, NJ, March 27-28.

Pennsylvania State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics: Erin Seger will exhibit at the PA State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Annual Meeting and Exhibition in Pittsburgh, PA on March 29.

Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Library Cooperative: Executive Director Kate Flewelling will be the luncheon speaker at the Spring Conference, in Harrisburg, PA on April 1. Her talk is entitled, “But I’m Not a Medical Librarian”: How the National Library of Medicine and National Network of Libraries of Medicine Support You.

Health Sciences Library Association of New Jersey and Philadelphia Chapter of MLA: Academic and Data Services Coordinator Elaina Vitale will present virtual NLM/NNLM Updates to HSLANJ on March 30 and to MLA – Phil on April 5.

Pennsylvania Community and Public Health Conference: All of Us Community Engagement Coordinator Veronica Leigh Milliner will co-present with All of Us Pennsylvania and exhibit in Lancaster, PA on April 2.

Wisconsin Health Literacy Summit: Education and Health Literacy Coordinator Michelle Burda will present “Health Online & National Network of Libraries of Medicine Funding Opportunities” with Caitlyn Mowatt, BS, Health Communications Specialist, Wisconsin Health Literacy in Madison, WI, April 2-3.

New York Emergency Nurses Association: Michelle Burda will exhibit in Saratoga Springs, NY, April 11-12.

Urban Libraries Conference: Michael Balkenhol will attend the Urban Librarians Conference in Brooklyn, NY, on April 12.

Unity 2019: Erin Seger will present “Link Your Community with Quality Health Information: A Skill Building Workshop” at the 20th annual Unity Community Health Worker national conference in Las Vegas, NV, April 14-17.

Special Libraries Association, Pharmaceutical and Health Technology Section: Elaina Vitale will present “From Apples to Oranges: Using Trusted National Library of Medicine Resources to Inform Comparative Effectiveness,” in Philadelphia, PA, April 14-16.

Medical Library Association: Many of our NNLM and NLM colleagues will attend the Medical Library Association conference in Chicago, IL, May 3-8. Congratulations to Elaina Vitale, who will be recognized as a 2019-2020 Rising Star!

  • Elaina (MAR) and Derek Johnson (GMR) will co-teach CE502, Advancing Health Equity through Evidence-Based Public Health: How to Find the Evidence on May 4 from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM.
  • Elaina will deliver an immersion session, “Elevating Health Equity: Wikipedia-Edit-a-thon” with Aimee Gogan (formerly SEA) and Alicia Lillich (MCR) on May 6 from 2:00-3:30 PM.
  • Elaina will co-present a poster, “Collaboration and Innovation: NNLM’s Nationwide Online Wikipedia Edit-a-Thons”
  • Kate Flewelling will present a paper, “Distracted in the library: Supporting staff and patrons with ADHD” on May 7 from 4:35-4:50 PM
  • Kate, Elaina, and Michelle Burda will be available with other NNLM and NLM staff at the NLM exhibit booth throughout the conference.

Pennsylvania Health Literacy Coalition: Michelle Burda will attend the PA Health Literacy Coalition Annual Meeting, May 14-15 in Harrisburg, PA.

Future Thinking for Health Sciences Librarians: Kate Flewelling will attend Future Thinking For Health Sciences Librarians, sponsored by MLA – Phil, in Philadelphia, PA on May 20.

New Jersey Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics: Erin Seger will exhibit on May 22 in Somerset, NJ.

PA Governor’s Advisory Council on Library Development: Kate Flewelling will present on current initiatives to the Pennsylvania Governor’s Advisory Council on Library Development in Carlisle, PA on May 30.

New Jersey Library Association: Michael Balkenhol and Veronica Leigh Milliner will attend NJLA in Atlantic City, NJ, May 29-31. In addition to exhibiting:

American Library Association: Many of our colleagues throughout NNLM will attend ALA in Washington, DC, June 20-25.

  • Lydia Collins, Participant Engagement Lead, and Yamila El-Khayat, Participant Engagement Coordinator, All of Us Research Program Training and Education Center, will co-present, “Transforming Communities through Health Outreach and Programming” on June 24 from 9:00-10:00 AM
  • Academic & Data Services Coordinator Elaina Vitale will moderate and co-present “Citizen Science for Libraries” with Alicia Lillich (MCR) and George Strawley (MCR) on June 24 from 10:30-11:30 AM.

International Society for Technology in Education: Veronica Leigh Milliner will attend ISTE19 in Philadelphia, PA, June 22-26.
