Celebrating 30 Years of the Ryan White CARE Act

On August 18, Health Resources and Services Adminitration (HRSA) will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act. This landmark legislation created the largest Federal program focused exclusively on providing care and treatment to people with HIV – the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program. Today the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program funds grants to cities, states, counties, and local community-based organizations across the country, serving more than half a million people with HIV in the U.S each year. The program provides comprehensive system of HIV primary medical care, support servies and medicine for PLWH with a goal of improving health outcomes and reducing transmission amoung hard to reach populations.

To learn more about the program, visit HRSA’s About the Ryan White HIV/AIDS page.

In honor of this milestone, HRSA is encouraging Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program recipients and stakeholders to wear red on August 18, and to share a photo with @HRSAgov with the hashtag #30YearsofCARE.
