NIH DMSP UpdateNIH's Data Management and Sharing Policy (DMSP) will go into effect on January 25, 2023. In response, NCDS has been developing materials and hosting sessions about the policy. Check out our NNLM Toolkit for the NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy, which links out to multiple resources, including readiness checklists, lists of data repositories, and supplemental policy information. In terms of events, we created a 6-hour Immersion Workshop that covers the policy requirements and the basics of research data management alongside activities designed to engage with policy preparation and data management plan development. We held this workshop twice in December, helping 100 people navigate preparations for the policy, and have scheduled it again for Friday, February 17 starting at 11am (Eastern). Additionally, we have developed a 1-hour policy overview, which we will host again on January 10, and we invited guest presenters Betsy Gunia and Jim Martin to host instructional sessions on using the DMPTool. Data InternshipLiliana Gonzalez was one of the data interns we worked with last summer, and her project was recently shared widely via GitHub — a Clinical Trials Data Primer she developed with the Data Curation Network. Many thanks to Mikala Narlock, Shawna Taylor, and others at the Data Curation Network, as well the collaborators on this project, Jen Darragh, Sophia Lafferty-Hess, Lisa Federer, and Genevieve Milliken, for working on this resource. We are currently looking for partner sites for our 2023 data interns. Partner sites will host interns virtually for 10 weeks this summer, providing hands-on practical experiences for graduate students of color interested in working as data librarians in health sciences contexts. If you have a data project that will be of benefit to your library and can be completed by several individuals undergoing data literacy training, support, and mentoring through NCDS, please submit your project information here. The deadline is January 15. You can read more about the internship here. Upcoming EventsHere are a few of our current and upcoming offerings:
