The NNLM National Center for Data Services<\/a> is excited to announce that applications are open for the 2026 Data Internship for library and information science students!<\/p>\n

This program provides hands-on experience in the skills needed for data librarianship in a health sciences context. These paid internships offer opportunities to gain practical experience while working on data projects with a mentor in a supportive environment. The practical experiences developed during the internship will provide participants with the skills needed to be competitive for data librarian positions. Upon completion, interns may also be funded for travel to a local or online conference to present about their summer project.<\/p>\n

The internship will take place from June 1 \u2013 August 7, 2026. We are seeking current students in an LIS graduate program or recent graduates (Spring 2025 or later) who are U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents. Applications are open April 13 \u2013 April 30. The expectations for the internship are to work 10 hours per week for the 10-week program, including attending all check-in sessions and workshops, completing a data project, submitting a report, and delivering a final presentation. It pays $2,000 in total.<\/p>\n

Data projects and host sites will be announced in early May. There will be up to 9 interns selected, and interns will be split into 3 teams to work on these projects.<\/p>\n
