El 23 de abril de cada a\u00f1o se celebra el \u201cD\u00eda del Idioma Espa\u00f1ol en las Naciones Unidas<\/a>\u201d. La elecci\u00f3n de la fecha espec\u00edfica se encuentra relacionada con el fallecimiento de Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, autor del libro \u201cEl ingenioso hidalgo don Quijote de la Mancha<\/a>\u201d una de las figuras m\u00e1s conocidas de la literatura espa\u00f1ola. El objetivo de esta celebraci\u00f3n es crear conciencia acerca del idioma espa\u00f1ol, su historia, su cultura y tambi\u00e9n promover el multiling\u00fcismo y el desarrollo del multiculturalismo a nivel mundial.

El espa\u00f1ol es una de las seis lenguas oficiales<\/a> de la Organizaci\u00f3n de las Naciones Unidas (ONU). Es la segunda lengua m\u00e1s hablada<\/a> en el mundo por hablantes de lengua materna. En el caso de los Estados Unidos de Norteam\u00e9rica (EE.UU), el espa\u00f1ol representa el idioma m\u00e1s hablado despu\u00e9s del ingl\u00e9s en el 62% de los hogares norteramericanos<\/a>. En el caso de los miembros de la Red de la Biblioteca Nacional de Medicina<\/a> (NNLM, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s), despu\u00e9s del ingl\u00e9s, el espa\u00f1ol es la lengua m\u00e1s usada<\/a> (89%).

Para celebrar el d\u00eda del espa\u00f1ol, el equipo de la Regi\u00f3n 2<\/a> de la NNLM organiz\u00f3 un evento titulado Uniendo Voces: celebraci\u00f3n del D\u00eda de la Lengua Espa\u00f1ola y promoci\u00f3n de la alfabetizaci\u00f3n sanitaria<\/a>. Como parte del evento, el Centro Nacional de Evaluaci\u00f3n (NEC, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) realiz\u00f3 una presentaci\u00f3n sobre Consejos Pr\u00e1cticos para Elaborar Planes de Evaluaci\u00f3n de Proyectos<\/a>, adem\u00e1s de crear recursos de apoyo adicionales (tales como una plantilla editable<\/a> de planes de evaluaci\u00f3n; una gu\u00eda para escribir objetivos SMART<\/a> y una referencia r\u00e1pida<\/a> para planes de evaluaci\u00f3n). \u00a1Qu\u00e9 bonito! NEC and the NNLM celebrate UN\u2019s Spanish Language Day!<\/strong>

Every year, on April 23, the United Nations (UN) celebrates Spanish Language Day<\/a>. The choice of date relates to the commemoration of the death of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, author of Don Quixote<\/a> and one of the most renowned figures in Spanish literature. The purpose of this celebration is to raise awareness of the Spanish language, its history, its culture and simultaneously, to promote multilingualism and the development of multiculturalism worldwide.

Spanish is one of the six official UN languages. It is the second most spoken language<\/a> in the world by number of native speakers. Spanish represents the most common non-English language in the United States, spoken in 62% of US households<\/a>. In the case of the members of the Network of the National Library of Medicine<\/a> (NNLM), after English, Spanish is the most used language (89%).

To celebrate Spanish Language Day, the team of NNLM\u2019s Region 2 organized an event entitled Uniting Voices: Spanish Language Day and Promoting Health Literacy<\/a>. As part of the event, the National Evaluation Center (NEC) did a presentation in Spanish on Tips for Writing Evaluation Plans<\/a>. Additionally, NEC created accompanying resources, all in Spanish, to further support evaluation practices (find them here<\/a>).
