\"\"The May 2022 issue of the American Journal of Public Health<\/em> (AJPH) includes a featured section on violence against public health officials during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

The section includes editorials on the harassment of health officials, the politicization of public health and a research article by Ward, Stone, Mui and Resnick \u00a0on “Pandemic-Related Workplace Violence and Its Impact on Public Health Officials, March 2020\u2012January 2021″.\u00a0 The article is about the experience and impact of pandemic-related workplace violence in the form of harassment and threats against public health officials and its impact.\u00a0 Using experiences portrayed in the media, a survey of local public health departments (583 respondents) and publicly reported departures, the article discusses harassment against public health officials from March 2020 to January 2021 and concludes with suggestions for the future.<\/span><\/p>\n

The issue also contains original research on food insecurity and its connection with forgone medical care, abortion costs leading to financial hardships, meatless Monday campaign messaging and more.\u00a0 Additionally, editorials describe birth centers, COVID-19\u00a0 death reporting and a growing gun problem.<\/p>\n
