{"id":2117,"date":"2023-08-01T12:47:29","date_gmt":"2023-08-01T12:47:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.nnlm.gov\/nphco\/?p=2117"},"modified":"2023-08-01T12:58:52","modified_gmt":"2023-08-01T12:58:52","slug":"programsag2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.nnlm.gov\/nphco\/programsag2023\/","title":{"rendered":"This Month&#8217;s NNLM Learning Opportunities (August 2023)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here are two public health-related learning programs offered by our NNLM Regions and Offices.\u00a0 See the <strong>NNLM Learning Calendar<\/strong> for a full list.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/training\/class\/participatory-community-building-myanmar-refugee-women-dallas-texas\">Participatory Community Building with Myanmar Refugee Women in Dallas, Texas<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Doctor Chie Noyori-Corbett will present the process and findings of 5 stages of the community participatory research project and how public libraries worked with Myanmar refugee women resettling in Dallas.\u00a0 Myanmar refugees in Dallas experience multiple challenges to their successful resettlement and consequent social integration.\u00a0 American resettlement requirements specify that refugees become economically self-sufficient less than six months after their arrival, an ambitious goal that is hard to achieve for any refugee, especially women.\u00a0 There was a serious need for an investigation of a successful resettlement through the eyes of Myanmar refugee women.
