Each day of the week has a theme to raise awareness of a specific public health issue. The National Library of Medicine and other government agencies have several resources to help you take a deeper dive into each of the topics highlighted during NPHW 2020. Page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday: Mental Health <\/strong>\u2014 advocate for and promote emotional well-being<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>Did you know? <\/em><\/strong>Stress, anxiety, and depression are common during, and after experiencing natural and human-caused disasters.[1] Learning to cope with emotions caused by fear and uncertainty can make you, your loved ones, and your community more resilient.[2]<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>To take action,<\/em><\/strong> visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nphw.org\/nphw-2020\/mental-health\">NPHW page on Mental Health<\/a> to learn how you can advocate and educate to reduce mental illness stigma. A 2019 peer-reviewed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC6571676\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">study<\/a> found associations between a person\u2019s neighborhood and their health outcomes. [7]<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>To take action, <\/em><\/strong>the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nphw.org\/nphw-2020\/environmental-health\">NPHW page on Environmental health<\/a> suggests national strategies to improve environmental health. But there are too many parts of this country where broadband is unavailable. In urban areas, 97% of Americans have access to high-speed fixed service. In rural areas, that number falls to 65%. And on Tribal lands, barely 60% have access.
