NN/LM Contracts Awarded

Posted by on May 10th, 2011 Posted in: Funding, News from NLM

On May 2, the National Library of Medicine announced the award of new five-year contracts to eight institutions to serve as Regional Medical Libraries (RMLs) in the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM).

The University of Washington Health Sciences Library is delighted to be awarded a new contract to continue serving as your Regional Medical Library in the NN/LM Pacific Northwest Region!

Since its original authorization by Congress in the 1965 Medical Library Assistance Act, the NN/LM has worked to equalize and enhance access to health sciences information throughout the United States. Its mission is to advance the progress of medicine and improve the public health by providing health professionals and the general public with equal access to biomedical information. The goals of the 2011-2016 contracts are: to develop collaborations among Network members and other organizations to improve access to and sharing of biomedical information resources throughout the nation; to promote awareness of, access to, and use of biomedical information resources for health professionals and the public, with a particular emphasis on contributing to Healthy People 2020; and to develop, promote, and improve electronic access to health information by Network members, health professionals, and organizations providing health information to the public.

More information about new classes, services and funding opportunities in the NN/LM PNR will be shared in upcoming blog posts.

We are also very pleased to be awarded new contracts for the NN/LM Outreach Evaluation Resource Center, and the Web Services and Technology Operations Center! These national centers provide support in program evaluation and web services to the NN/LM’s eight multistate regions.
