NNLM RD3: Resources for Data-Driven Discovery

Posted by on June 9th, 2017 Posted in: Data Science, Technology

The National Network of Libraries of Medicine has just launched a new website: NNLM RD3: Resources for Data-Driven Discovery! Originally known as the eScience Portal for Librarians and initiated by the NNLM New England Region at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 2009, the portal transitioned to the NNLM’s national website this past May and was launched at MLA.

NNLM’s primary aim is to support access to biomedical and health information. By fostering learning and collaboration in data science and encouraging the sharing, curation, and annotation of biomedical data, NNLM will insure that data is findable, accessible, interoperable, and re-usable. NNLM RD3 will serve as a resource for librarians, library students, information professionals, and others who are interested in learning about library roles in the field of data science, the fundamentals of domain sciences, and emerging trends in data librarianship.

In addition to listing a wide range of resources for the librarian who is seeking to become more data savvy or who is providing support to researchers, NNLM RD3 also links to regional data related activities, events, and teaching aids.

In the coming months, further resources will be added to NNLM RD3, including health care-focused subject primers, NIH specific data management resources, and information on new developments in the intersection between library science and data management. We invite you to check out the new site, explore PNR’s data management offerings, and engage with PNR’s Research and Data Coordinators, Ann Glusker and Ann Madhavan about other data related information you’d like to see on the new website!
