Sharing Knowledge in the Network: Serials Management from OHSU

Posted by on May 17th, 2006 Posted in: News From NNLM PNR

Oregon Health & Science University

Diane Carroll, Collection Development Librarian at Oregon Health & Science University, presented on “Evaluation and Management of Print and Electronic Journals Using a Serials Decision Database” at the 2006 Online Northwest Meeting held at Corvallis, Oregon.

Abstract:

Selection and management of serials, always a complex process, became more complicated with the addition of online journals. In 2000, the Oregon Health & Science University Library staff developed a serials decision database to manage print and electronic serials. The presentation provides an overview of what data are included in this Excel spreadsheet and how the use of this information has evolved over the 5 years it has been in use. The talk may be of interest to individuals involved with collection development, electronic collections, licensing and serials management.
