Upcoming Event: Health Datapalooza June 5 and 6

Posted by on May 29th, 2012 Posted in: News from NLM, Technology

The Health Data Initiative Forum, an organization that brings together private and public interests in health data and health systems to promote collaboration and innovation to develop tools and technologies, is hosting the Health Datapalooza June 5th and 6th in Washington, D.C..  Attendees and participants in the Forum represent a wide range of stakeholders in health data, including individuals involved in health care policy, software developers, stakeholders in consumer and community health and others.

Check out the schedule for Day 1 and Day 2.  Highlights for this year’s forum include keynote addresses by Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Todd Park, U.S. Chief Technology Officer, plus, demonstrations of health care apps aimed at providers, consumers and community members developed to utilize health data to improve care, health outcomes and more.

For those of us unable to attend in person, I have confirmed with forum organizers that they are planning on streaming the morning plenary sessions on both days.  The afternoon breakout sessions will not be available for viewing and as of this moment organizers are unsure whether recorded version of the event will be made available online after the event is over.  The link that is currently being passed around for online viewing is http://www.hdiforum.org/page/show/454166.  Morning sessions begin at 9:00AM Eastern time, so that’s 6AM for those of us here in PST and 7AM for those of you in Mountain time.

If you prefer to follow along on twitter, the hashtag for the event will be #healthdata.
