Samantha Lopez, Program Officer at the Public Library Association (PLA), describes a funding collaboration and partnership between NNLM and PLA to expand the scope of PLA’s Project Outcome, a performance measurement toolkit, including the addition of standardized health surveys, to better measure and demonstrate the impact of public libraries’ health programming and services on their communities and beyond.
June Kim, librarian at the American University of Health Sciences in Signal Hill, CA, describes highlights of a project supported by NNLM PSR Mini-Award funding to host a two-day health-related “mini academy” for underrepresented youth in the community. Activities included demonstrations of first aid procedures, vital sign and body measurements, and research activities with NLM’s MedlinePlus resource.
