This post covers the evolution of PubMed from its beginning in 1996 to the recent launching of a comprehensive effort to take PubMed to the next level, with a goal to transform it into a modern hub with a fast, reliable, intuitive search that connects people to the world’s leading sources of biomedical information.
Several features have been incorporated into an updated “new” PubMed, including options to customize the number of items per page, sort by publication date, reverse sort order, see all similar articles, and download the Results by Year timeline. The National Library of Medicine continues to develop features in the new PubMed site, which will eventually replace the legacy PubMed.
In light of NLM’s ClinicalTrials.gov 20th anniversary and upcoming modernization effort, a Request for Information (RFI) has been issued to solicit comments on the following topics: website functionality, information submission processes, and use of data standards. Comments must be submitted by March 14.
