This article highlights an All of Us Community Engagement Award funded by NNLM PSR for Sacramento Public Library to conduct the Brain Health Initiative project. The award resulted in the library’s first health literacy focused program, designed to facilitate the process of healthy aging by delivering information and techniques to improve brain health.
As libraries around the world have closed their physical doors to stop community spread of COVID-19, they have responded to the challenges of moving in-person programming to the digital space in novel and creative ways.
This year’s NNLM PSR Subwardees faced numerous obstacles on top of the regular unexpected twists and turns of special library projects. In a short amount of time, they adapted to their new realities and built lasting, accessible, impactful web-based resources.

NNLM PSR librarians Nora Franco and Kelli Ham attended and exhibited at the annual University of Arizona College of Medicine Connect2STEM event, reaching over 250 visitors at the largest STEM-related event held in downtown Phoenix. They focused on providing outreach for consumer health information, citizen science, and the All of Us Research Program.
