In recognition of the need to support research to develop innovative and transformative mathematical and statistical approaches to address important data-driven biomedical and health challenges, the National Library of Medicine and the National Science Foundation have issued a joint funding opportunity to support the Initiative on Generalizable Data Science Methods for Biomedical Research. The application submission window deadline is in early January, 2019.

Through the efforts of US Senator Chris Van Hollen, a tribute to NLM Deputy Director Betsy Humphreys was published in the Congressional Record on June 13. She is retiring at the end of June after 44 years of exemplary public service.
