On June 1 the National Library of Medicine (NLM) released a new design for its main homepage featuring simplified site-wide navigation, improved homepage content with access to news and highlights about NLM’s work and upcoming training opportunities, and more direct access to NLM’s most popular and frequently used resources. The site search box is prominently located in the center of the design to maximize usability and facilitate fast navigation. The new design is the result of extensive user research and usability testing, and aims to provide users with a more efficient path to NLM tools and resources. It also adapts to any device’s screen size.
The new homepage will link back to the original site, for one month, to allow users time to become familiar with the new navigation. The next phase of the refresh will be to transition all NLM pages to the new header and footer. NLM looks forward to receiving your feedback at the NLM Support Center.
