Observed every April, raising awareness of the need for equality when it comes to accessing good health and medical care, regardless of one\u2019s race, gender, or social class.\u00a0 NMHM,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Builds awareness of about the disproportionate burden of premature death and illness in people from racial and ethnic minority groups<\/li>\n<li>Encourages action through health education, early detection and control of disease complications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Learn more about the history of NMHM from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nimhd.nih.gov\/programs\/edu-training\/nmhm\/#about\">National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The US Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Minority Health offers <a href=\"https:\/\/minorityhealth.hhs.gov\/minority-population-profiles\">population profiles<\/a> that can be used to learn more about the health issues affecting various racial and ethnic minority groups.<\/p>\n<p>Libraries can play an important role in providing health education to help increase health equity. The NNLM All of Us Program offers a <a href=\"https:\/\/allofus.nnlm.gov\/resources\">Resource Library<\/a>, that libraries can use to engage with their communities, specifically about equity in biomedical research.
