Posted in: #CC/Academic List, #Health Interest List, #Health Sciences List, #Public/K-12 List, All Members

LitCovid is a searchable database librarians, health professionals, and the general public can use to find scholarly articles indexed in PubMed on the COVID-19 Virus. At the time of this writing there are just under 173,000 articles in this database. Bellow you can find a screen shot of the front page of LitCovid.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/research/coronavirus/

This product is published and maintained by the National Library of Medicine provides individuals the opportunity to search for any articles related to COVID-19. Below is an example of a search on vaccine hesitancy. The results can be refined by relevance or date published. Individuals can further limit their search by checking the checkboxes on the left side of the results. On the right-side results are broken down by weekly publications and countries that published the results.

As with any search tools there are limitations to this database. Some of these limitations include: 1. That all articles are indexed in PubMed but not all published articles are indexed in PubMed. 2. Not all the articles are full text. 3. Some of the articles will require access through a pay wall or other full text database.  4. Most of the articles are scholarly and may not be of interest to the general public.

In closing, LitCovid is an article searching tool that provides information about the COVID-19 Virus that can be used by researchers, librarians, health professionals and the general public. The product offers an efficient way to find articles indexed in PubMed related to any aspect of the COVID-19 Virus. Hopefully you can use this tool with your populations of interest.
