Call for submissions: MLA Rittenhouse Award for Student/New Graduate Paper or Web Project

Are you a library school student, recent graduate, or health science library/medical informatics trainee, who has completed an amazing student paper or web-based project in the last year about health science librarianship or medical informatics?

The Rittenhouse Award is presented annually by the Medical Library Association (MLA) to a ALA-accredited library school student or recent graduate, or a health science library/medical informatics trainee, who submits the best web-based project or unpublished paper completed since April 15 of the previous year about health science librarianship or medical informatics.

The author of the winning paper or project receives:

  • Cash award of $500
  • Complimentary student registration to MLA’s annual conference (award does not cover travel and housing).
  • If the winning entry is an unpublished paper it may be submitted to the Journal of the Medical Library Association for consideration.

Author eligibility:

  • Current MLA member (student membership is $50/year and reduced fee membership options are available for first-year members, unemployed members and those with salaries under $50,000/year)
  • Currently enrolled OR recently graduated (within 18 months of deadline) from an ALA-accredited program of library and information studies, OR trainee in an internship program in health sciences librarianship or medical informatics.

Deadline for submission is October 15, 2022.
