This webinar will explore communication lessons learned about COVID-19 misinformation to help leaders prepare for the next infodemic and earn public trust in public health messages. Four panelists will present on their research projects. Saara Nasruddin will describe the World Health Organization “best practice” frameworks on responding to vocal vaccine deniers and how pharmacists and other health care professionals can serve on the front lines in battling health misinformation. Md Mahfuzul Haque will discuss how COVID-19 misinformation has used religious sentiments to manipulate readers, blame certain religious communities for the crisis, and intentionally confuse people by making them believe their religious beliefs protected them from infection. Dr. Naeemul Hassan will highlight how he uses artificial intelligence models and machine language to measure the quality of health information across a spectrum of U.S. media outlets. And Dr. Kristen Swain will discuss challenges in fact-checking viral social media posts that promote health misinformation.

NNLM Health Misinformation Webinar Series

Through presentations from expert guest speakers, the NNLM Health Misinformation Webinar Series will enable librarians, public health professionals, health educators, and health care providers to explore various aspects of health misinformation, disinformation, and mal-information, and learn practical and evidence-based solutions for how to identify it and help curb its spread.

We look forward to seeing you at this and upcoming webinars!
