Announcing Region 4’s Year 5 (2025-2026) Funding Opportunities

The Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM), Region 4 invites applications for health information outreach, programming projects, and professional development opportunities for Year 5. Among other things, past funding awards have helped libraries develop and implement health information related outreach and programming, acquire technology that can help patrons gain access to health information, and send staff to valuable training activities.  

To aid in writing your application, the NNLM Proposal Writing Toolkit includes tips and tricks for constructing your project description, budget, evaluation plan, and much more. If you’d like to discuss the technical aspects of your application or run your project concepts by us, please reach out to your state’s point of contact:

1. Professional Development Awards Year 5 (2025-2026)

The purpose of the Professional Development Award is to 1) strengthen the professional knowledge and experience of individual network members in health data or health information access related services, 2) empower libraries and other organizations to train staff in skills needed to deliver reliable health information, and 3) build professional capacity in support of specific Region 4 Core Aims, the NNLM mission, and the NLM 2017-2027 Strategic Plan.

Period of Performance: June 1, 2025 – April 30, 2026
Amount: $2,500
Number of Awards Available: Minimum of 12
Application Deadline: February 16, 2026, 5:00 pm MT
Eligibility: These awards are intended for use by individuals affiliated with NNLM Region 4 member institutions.

2. Technology Improvement Projects Award Year 5 (2025-2026)

The purpose of the Technology Improvement Projects Award is to support short-term projects that involve program improvement concepts, including technology improvements projects. Applications should demonstrate how it will attempt to enhance the applicant’s communities’ access to health information resources designed to improve health literacy skills and how it will support specific Region 4 Core Aims, the NNLM mission, and the NLM 2017-2027 Strategic Plan. For additional details, visit our guide page for this award.

Period of Performance: June 1, 2025 – April 30, 2026
Amount: $10,000
Number of Awards Available: Minimum of 2
Application Deadline: November 15, 2024, 5:00 pm MT
Eligibility: These awards are intended for use by NNLM Region 4 member institutions.

3. Engagement & Outreach Award Year 5 <$25K (2025-2026)

The purpose of the Engagement & Outreach Award is to build partnerships and collaborations with local community groups and other key groups. Applications should demonstrate how it will 1) reach underserved populations with health information outreach projects, 2) use community-led approaches to increase access to health information by working through libraries and other members to support a highly trained workforce in biomedical, health information, data science resources, etc., and 3) support specific Region 4 Core Aims, the NNLM mission, and the NLM 2017-2027 Strategic Plan. Number of Awards Available: Minimum of 2
Application Deadline: November 15, 2024, 5:00 pm MT
