LiverTox, produced collaboratively by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) and the National Library of Medicine (NLM), provides clinicians, researchers, and information professionals with a comprehensive, accessible, and authoritative database on drug-, supplement-, and herbal-induced liver injury. The site offers evidence-based summaries of over 1,400 agents describing their frequency, clinical patterns, mechanisms, prognosis, and relevant case reports alongside annotated scientific references and regulatory links. The LiverTox team welcomes user comments and inquiries.
Interested in learning more? We offer an online, self-paced course, which provides in-depth drug and chemical information, from adverse effects to molecular properties. Through hands-on exercises, learners will practice locating chemical properties, including structures and interactions, in PubChem; toxicity information in LiverTox and LactMed; toxicological reviews in Bookshelf; and the latest research about adverse effects in PubChem.
