The NLM Colloquia on Biomedical Data Science and Computational Biology Research is a regularly scheduled series of scientific lectures presented by the NLM Division of Intramural Research (DIR), a premier hub of innovation for computational biology and biomedical data science.
The NLM DIR invites experts from outside NLM to present at the Colloquia, where they can share their insights with research communities across NIH and worldwide in the rapidly evolving fields of biomedical data science and computational biology research, as well as how their work impacts these topic areas.
For librarians and other health information professionals, these lectures provide critical context on the technologies and methodologies that researchers and clinicians are increasingly using.
The 2026 series has already kicked off with high-caliber presentations, such as the recent January session on Harnessing AI and Informatics for Dementia and Aging Research by Dr. Li Shen from the University of Pennsylvannia.
Next Event: Diverse Applications of Computational Research and Artificial Intelligence in Ophthalmology on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m. with Tiarnán Keenan, MD, PhD. Lectures are held in the Lister Hill Center Auditorium (Bethesda, MD) and broadcast live globally via NIH Videocast. Please check the official NLM Colloquia page for the latest schedule announcements.
If you cannot attend a live session, the NLM makes it easy to watch recordings of previous lectures via the NIH Videocast archive.
