Region 4 Programming Update

Posted by on July 21st, 2026 Posted in: Blog

We are happy to share some encouraging news from the NNLM program, specifically Region 4. For those who aren’t aware, the National Library of Medicine was able to secure partial funding that extends the NNLM Region 4 program through April 30, 2027. Other regions, centers, and offices, including the National Training Office, also received funding.

During this 12-month extension, Region 4 will continue delivering essential training and community engagement programming as well as Professional Development Award funding opportunities for NNLM Region 4 members.

Please note that while NNLM’s mission remains the same, we will be operating with a smaller staff. We appreciate your patience as we navigate this transition.

What Happens to the NNLM After April 2027?

The NNLM is a competitive five-year program. Information about the forecasted NNLM Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the next cycle can be found at grants.gov.

Stay in the Loop

We will be sharing more health information access related news and updates throughout the coming months. To ensure you don’t miss anything:

We are incredibly grateful that we can continue serving our NNLM Region 4 members for another year. If you have any questions or want to discuss how these updates might impact your organization, please don’t hesitate to reach out to region4@nnlm.gov.
