The Addict’s Wake: Virtual Film Screening and Panel Discussion

Posted by on September 9th, 2024 Posted in: #CC/Academic List, #Health Interest List, #Public/K-12 List, Webinars and Training

You are invited to stream The Addict’s Wake and attend a virtual panel with the film’s director later this month! Region 6 has partnered with Glory Girl Productions to present the film, The Addict’s Wake. The movie shares stories of substance use disorder and treatment told from the survivor’s perspective. Following a week of virtual film screenings beginning September 19 at 7:00 a.m. MT and ending September 26 at 11:00 a.m. MT, a virtual panel discussion will take place on September 26 at 1:00 p.m. MT.

The panel will include the film’s director, Lori Hall; Dr. William Cooke, a community physician and author of Canary in the Coal Mine; and Dr. Lisa Witty. They will share their experiences and knowledge for recognizing, diagnosing, and supporting persons with substance use disorders while advocating for advances in prevention and recovery awareness and information for the broad impact of substance-use primarily in small and rural communities. The program also will raise awareness of the National Library of Medicine, the National Institutes of Health, and SAMSHA information resources.

For more details, including registration, please visit the course information page. Contact Darlene Kaskie with any questions you may have.
