In this training, we will work through a checklist of the top 10 methods of ensuring your PowerPoint presentation is accessible. We will focus on how to use the built-in Layouts, Outline View, and Accessibility Checker to ensure that all of your content will be picked up and read by screen reading software. This training also includes a basic overview of image description when using a highly visual medium such as PowerPoint. Attendees will also learn strategies for building accessible tables, and how to provide content in multiple ways in order to maximize the accessibility of PowerPoint presentations.

This training focuses on image description for individuals who are blind or have low vision, with an emphasis on writing alternative text for complex images. Examples are provided as templates of different types of images from STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). This training also addresses factors involving cognitive load and auditory fatigue for people with disabilities, and how to edit image descriptions that are clear and concise.
