Posted in: #CC/Academic List, #Health Interest List, #Health Sciences List, #Public/K-12 List, All Members

Join MLA’s Vision 2048 Task Force for this third and final virtual session where you will have the opportunity to identify themes of what future practice in libraries will look like and how MLA can plan for the future using those themes. We will engage in conversation with members to see what is important to you and see how you think libraries will make an impact in 2048. During this session we will discuss what successes, challenges, and opportunities will look like in 2048 related to the profession of health sciences librarianship and libraries as a whole.

Use this link to join the zoom session on July 14th.

We will be discussing:

  • Leadership and Management
  • Clinical Outreach
  • Community Engagement & Outreach
  • Curricular Involvement
  • Technical Services
  • Collection Management
  • Data Management and Digital Curation
  • Reference & Consultation
  • Education Health Care Professionals
  • Education Future Health Information Professionals
  • Web and UX (User Experience) Design
  • Miscellaneous

Facilitators in your group will ask the following questions:

  1. What is the biggest challenge you see in moving forward in this area? What are the barriers that keep us from being successful?
  2. What is the biggest opportunity you see? What are some strategies that we can use to make those opportunities happen?
  3. What role does diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) play in this topic?

After the breakout discussion, there will be a recap for sharing what was learned in the groups. This is the last session which will conclude our information gathering phase. The task force will take that feedback from the facilitators and apply it to our work.

If you have questions please contact Charlotte Beyer, AHIP, Chair, Vision 2048 Task Force, or Mary Langman, MLA Headquarters.
