Accessibility Fundamentals of WCAG 2.0/WCAG 2.1 Updates and WAI Resources

February 1, 2022 @3pm ET

This training provides information and resources related to the structure and success criteria (SC) of WCAG 2.0 and 2.1, including an overview of the P.O.U.R. principles:

  • (P) Perceivable
  • (O) Operable
  • (U) Understandable
  • (R) Robust

Automated Testing Approaches with Real Time Demonstrations

February 8, 2022 @3pm ET

This training provides an overview of several automated tools, including:

  • Key features
  • The pros and cons of each
  • Similarities/Differences among the tools

A testing methodology is also provided, including the most efficient use of the tools, the value of a WCAG Quick Reference Checklist, and a brief overview of visible focus across browsers. A live walk-through will be provided of the respective organization’s website and/or applications, along with other sites using the following tools: HTML Code Sniffer, the Web Developer Extension and Bookmarklets, WAVE and ANDI.

 

Screen Reader Overview

February 15, 2022 @3pm ET

This training will provide the fundamentals of downloading, installing and customizing screen readers. Areas to be covered include customizing the speech rate, synthesizer and shortcut keys. Specific focus will also be placed on how a person with a disability leverages screen readers and text-to-speech solutions. Additional resources will also be provided in order to enhance the learning curve and technical skills of leveraging screen readers for manual testing purposes.

 

Social Media Accessibility

February 22, 2022 @3pm ET

With the continued proliferation of smartphones of tablets being used to access content, social media is often the primary, and sometimes the only, way in which to reach individuals with essential content and information. In this presentation, attendees will be learning how to create and disseminate accessible social media content in order to provide a more equitable experience for everyone. Specific “how to” instructions and additional resources will be provided on integrating greater accessibility into social media platforms that include Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, and TikTok.
