The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities are hosting a meeting and panel to explore the current use of algorithms, their impact on racial/ethnic disparities in care, and approaches to identify and mitigate existing biases.

Topics will include:

• Presentation of evidence on algorithms and racial and ethnic
bias in healthcare
• Perspectives of patients, clinicians, payers, healthcare
systems, electronic health record vendors, and Federal
agencies
• Approaches to mitigate bias in the development, validation,
use, and dissemination of algorithms
• Review of standards to eliminate bias and reduce disparities
