Lessons learned: Engaging Teens in Evaluating Online Health Information

NNLM Region 7 is excited to host the Nation Association of Hispanic Nurses-CT Chapter (NAHN-CT) on June 21 at 2pm ET (1pm CT, noon MT, 11am PT) for “Lessons learned: Engaging teens in evaluating online health information.”

Jessica Alicea-Planas, PhD, RN, MPH, CHES and Maria Krol, DNP, RNC-NIC, ACUE will share information from their successful 2020-2021 NNLM funded project to bring training to teens about evaluating health information online. Hear about the program, next steps and lessons learned, barriers, and best practices for bringing programming to teens.

Objectives:

  • Identify resources and strategies for teaching teens to evaluate health information online.
  • Apply best practices for creating programming that teaches teens skills to evaluate online health information.
  • Discuss unexpected outcomes from the initiative.
