Mobile Accessibility Overview

Tuesday, March 1, 2022 @ 3pm ET

In this training, attendees will be provided with an understanding of the accessibility features available within the iOS and Android operating systems. Attendees will also be provided a live demonstration of what these accessibility features look and sound like within native, hybrid and web-based apps.

 

Mobile Accessibility Testing and Resources

Tuesday, March 8, 2022 @ 3pm ET

In this training, a demonstration of inaccessible and accessible environments will be provided using the Assistive Technology options within the iOS and Android operating systems. Additional resources and guidelines related to mobile accessibility addressing WCAG 2.0/2.1 and best practices will also be provided.

 

The Fundamentals of Video Captioning

Tuesday, March 15, 2022 @ 3pm ET

This presentation includes available options, legal requirements and best practices of captioning and multimedia. Descriptions of open captions, closed captions, and Communication Access Realtime translation (CART) will be provided, along with specific instances in which to incorporate them. Attendees will also be learning how it’s possible for these practices to become second-nature and part of an organization’s workflow, which adds increased value to all users.

 

The Fundamentals of Audio Description

Tuesday, March 22, 2022 @ 3pm ET

In this presentation, attendees will be provided with an overview of how to describe visual elements of everyday life for accessibility, with an emphasis on video media. An overview of the guidelines outlined by WCAG will be given in regards to video media accessibility, including minimum compliance and best practice in order to provide people with disabilities a more inclusive and accessible experience. Attendees will also be given the opportunities to practice the skills of description.

 

The Basics of WAI-ARIA: Automated and Manual Testing Approaches

Tuesday, March 29. 2022 @ 3pm ET

This training covers the basic concepts behind WAI-ARIA (also known as ARIA) and introduce resources for incorporating it. This training will also demonstrate the pros and cons of ARIA, and why poorly implemented ARIA can sometimes do more damage than good. Best practices for the use of ARIA will also be covered, including demonstrations of well implemented, and poorly implemented, ARIA, using screen readers.

 

Testing Methodologies for Accessibility Remediation

Tuesday, April 5, 2022 @3pm ET 

This training focuses on code inspection and implementation within a testing methodology framework. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of testing that moves beyond the use of automated tools. It will cover testing using assistive technology to identify errors on a webpage, inspecting the code associated with the error, offering possible solutions, and choosing the best remediation for the error. Demonstrations will be provided using assistive technology that highlights the benefits of incorporating both compliance and best practice for people with disabilities.
