R4 Connections: Understanding and Using Generative AI: For Health Science Librarians on November 12

We’re excited to have Nicole Hennig, e-learning developer and AI education specialist at the University of Arizona Libraries, as our next R4 Connections guest speaker on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Mountain Time. She will be previewing her upcoming six-week online course on generative AI for health science librarians. Each course module will be introduced, with samples from the video lectures. Topics include:

  • Understanding the technology behind generative AI
  • Prompting for large language models
  • Multimodal features for educational use
  • Capabilities of multimedia generation (images, video, music, speech)
  • Staying current current and avoiding the hype about AI
  • Applications of generative AI in healthcare and medicine including ethical issues such as bias, copyright, and privacy protection

In addition to previewing course content, questions will be answered about formats, assignments, readings, and suggested time needed per week to complete the course.
