Posted by on February 22nd, 2024 Posted in: #CC/Academic List, #Health Interest List, #Health Sciences List, #Public/K-12 List, Webinars and Training

Our Building Successful Collaborations with Communities course integrates the theory of community engagement with its application to libraries. The course is designed using the Preparation, Action, Reflection model. We will share step-by-step methods and best practices for engaging with communities to co-design and co-develop library offerings. Participants will learn about the community in which their library is located and develop skills to build constructive relationships and bridge cultural differences. They will gain practical experience with engagement methods and share their experiences in implementing several stages of engagement. The course is led by Dr. Ling Hwey Jeng, Director of the Texas Woman’s University School of Library and Information Studies.

Each section runs for a two-week period and has a limit of 25 seats:

  • Course 1: Building Successful Collaborations with Communities: Community-Based Librarianship
  • Course 2: Building Successful Collaborations with the Communities: Asset-Based Community Development
  • Course 3: Building Successful Collaborations with the Communities: Collective Impact
  • Course 4: Building Successful Collaborations with the Communities: Grassroots Leadership
