March 10th, 2022 is our next scheduled NNLM R4 Connections meeting. The meeting will take place at 11:00 AM MST
We are honored to have guest speaker Dr. Pamela DeGuzman. She will be talking to us about Telemedicine in Rural Public Libraries and sharing a little bit about her current research project in this area. Here is a little bit more about her:
“A former hospital administrator and a quintuple `Hoo, I am passionate about teaching nursing students the leadership, business and communication skills they need to change the way patients are treated through health systems theory and public health systems research.
After several years as a bedside nurse, I determined to earn my MBA with a notion to become a hospital CEO. I soon realized that even healthcare administrators have limited ability to make meaningful, powerful, lasting changes due to our complex system – and that I would be much better suited developing research to influence the delivery of healthcare through policy.
Today, after earning my PhD in nursing, I’m doing what I do best: Empowering students to understand the healthcare environment, influence it and create systems that make changes that benefit our patients. Through my courses, students are taught the nuts and bolts of leadership, management and finance, and exposed to communication and management strategies and theory – and hopefully come away stronger, more confident, and better clinicians, researchers and colleagues. As director of research at Martha Jefferson Hospital, I helped RNs there understand how to change policy through evidence-based study. As a researcher on topics related to public health, nursing history, and the effects of geography on the health of vulnerable populations, I use my skills to create systems for caregivers to affect change.
And I love what I do.”
We look forward to seeing you there.
The presentation will be 30 minutes long allowing 30 minutes at the end for questions and open discussion.
