Upcoming Learning Opportunities

Posted in: Webinars and Training

Are you or your colleagues looking for free professional development opportunities to sharpen your skills? NNLM has a wide variety of webinars and online classes coming up, including:

  • Library Telehealth Partnerships: Lessons Learned and Looking Ahead – January 31 at 1:00 p.m. MT
In Idaho, the Department of Health and Welfare is supporting libraries as they offer telehealth connections for patrons. These services allow residents of rural communities and others who experience health inequities related to the “digital divide” to talk to their healthcare professional over an internet connection right at their local library. Hear from the coordinator of this fledgling program about how it has operated so far. A representative of NNLM’s Region 4 will also tell you about training opportunities for professionals who want to explore offering telehealth services at their library.
  • Artificial Intelligence & Healthcare – An Overview for the Curious – February 13 at 12:00 p.m. MT
AI is widely utilized in healthcare. This presentation provides a friendly introduction to the topic for librarians, health professionals, and anyone with an interest in the topic. Attendees will come away informed about the field’s history, conversant with definitions of important concepts, an understanding of how AI can become biased (and what that means for patients), and familiar with some of the many ways that AI is currently being used in healthcare.
  • Integrating Research, Publishing, and Presenting Into Your Career – February 21 at 10:30 a.m. MT
This presentation will discuss strategies for getting started in research and the pros and perils of publishing your work and navigating such factors as open access, predatory publishers, and research metrics. Finally, we will discuss ways to submit and present your work effectively and with confidence.
  • Providing Multilingual Health Information – March 6 at 11:00 a.m. MTThis 1-hour session is designed to assist librarians and others who work with diverse populations in locating health information. The resources presented are selected for their emphasis on providing information in the preferred language of the population. Participants will have the opportunity to become familiar with the features and scope of several Internet resources.

Registration is required for all NNLM classes and webinar. For the full list, please check out the NNLM training calendar.
