Upcoming Webinar: Evaluating Health Information on Wikipedia

NNLM Region 7 in collaboration with Region 3 is excited to host Kelsey Cowles from the University of Pittsburgh on September 28 at 1pm ET/ 12 pm CT/11 am MT/10 am PT) for “Region 7 Presents – Evaluating Health Information on Wikipedia.”

In this webinar you will learn about Wikipedia’s biomedical content and the standards that guide its creation, how to evaluate health articles on Wikipedia, and how to use these articles as starting points for further research. Approved for 1 hour of MLA CE.

Objectives:

  1. Describe two benefits and two challenges of using Wikipedia as an information resource.
  2. Describe the standards that guide the creation of biomedical content on Wikipedia.
  3. Evaluate a Wikipedia health article for completeness and reliability.
  4. Use a Wikipedia health article as a starting point to locate further health information.
