Webinar Highlights Black Maternal Health

Posted in: #CC/Academic List, #Health Interest List, #Health Sciences List, #Public/K-12 List, All Members

Join us on September 22 for the NNLM Reading Club Presents… We Live For the We: The Political Power of Black Motherhood. Authors Dani McClain and Andrea Collier will discuss McClain’s book, one of three Reading Club selections on black maternal health, and take questions from participants.

In We Live for the We, McClain examines the questions she has about raising her child, questions that take on political significance as she considers what it means to introduce her daughter to an unjust, even hostile society. She examines how to build a strong, supportive community for her daughter that includes frequently ignored values and perspectives, and how to ensure her daughter lives with dignity and joy.

The discussion at 1 p.m. MT will be live-streamed on the NNLM Pacific Northwest Region Facebook page and on YouTube. We encourage you to register for the event, but registration is not required in order to attend.  The session will also be recorded.
