Black women are <b>more than three times<\/b>\u00a0as likely to die from pregnancy-related complications as white women, regardless of their income or education. This health disparity is why Black Maternal Health Week is a national health observance recognized annually from April 11 to April 17.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;color: black\">NNLM aims to advance the progress of medicine and improve public health, which is why during Black Maternal Health Week we present opportunities to learn about Black maternal health.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;color: black\">This year, we are pleased to highlight two NNLM-funded projects focusing on Black maternal health:\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;color: #467886\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/training\/class\/life-after-2-losses-support-advocacy-and-health-literacy-healthy-pregnancy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #467886\">Life After 2 Losses: Support Advocacy and Health Literacy for a Healthy Pregnancy<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;color: #467886\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/training\/class\/unveiling-power-community-partnerships-transforming-black-maternal-health-outreach\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #467886\">Unveiling the Power of Community Partnerships: Transforming Black Maternal Health Outreach.<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;color: black\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;color: black\">Attendees will come away with greater awareness of health issues and disparities that disproportionately impact Black women and their families as well as methods professionals are taking to combat them.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;color: black\">We hope you will join us!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Women in the United States die from giving birth at a higher rate than any other developed nation.
