Whether you have been thinking about trying a new tool, have interest in telling a data story about your favorite health topic,\u00a0or if you need a little more time to finalize your submission, we are extending the deadline to\u00a0<strong>Friday, April 12th<\/strong>. We encourage submissions from those who are new to data visualization, as well as those who are dataviz experts.<\/p>\n<p>The NNLM Data Visualization Challenge, hosted by the National Evaluation Center for the NNLM, will provide inspiration, reveal insights, and showcase skills in visualizing open datasets. The Challenge encourages participants to push the boundaries of their skills by testing out new tools, techniques, or approaches, and publicly demonstrating their best visualizations.<\/p>\n<p>The NNLM Data Visualization Challenge allows you to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Showcase an open dataset<\/strong>. You can use one or more sources of data that is openly available, such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/data.gov\/\">Data.gov<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kaggle.com\/datasets\">Kaggle.com<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/data.census.gov\/cedsci\/\">Census.gov<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Focus on any audience<\/strong>. You can focus your efforts on designing visualizations for one or more audiences, such as policy makers, faculty and administration, or the public.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Use your choice of tools<\/strong>. You can use one or more tools, such as: Excel, Tableau, Google Charts, PowerBI, and programming languages\/libraries such as R, Python, SPSS, SAS.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Submissions can be static, or dynamic, such as animated, or web-based interactive stories and may include, but are not limited to maps, charts, graphs, data art, figures from papers or posters, infographics, and data dashboards. Submissions should be submitted as a file (pdf, png, etc.) or link (url, GitHub page, etc.).\u00a0\u00a0Any submissions will be shared in an open gallery in an online repository.
