Our mission is built on three pillars:\u00a0community engagement &amp; outreach, training &amp; education, and funding support for grassroots initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>With 544 NNLM current members in Region 4, we\u2019ve embraced the unique opportunity of serving a region defined by both dense urban hubs and vast rural areas, most of which are <a href=\"https:\/\/data.hrsa.gov\/tools\/shortage-area\/by-address\">Medically Underserved Areas<\/a>. Despite the challenges of getting services to where they are needed most, our digital outreach has seen many successes. In Year 4, we published 100 blog posts and shared 42 newsletters, reaching 472 subscribers with timely and actionable health information content.<\/p>\n<p>Engagement also remains a key focus. Region 4 staff presented at more than 30 local and regional conferences, reaching over 1,200\u00a0professionals. Additionally, our live webinars, held 5\u20136 times annually, drew over 500 attendees, with double that number viewing YouTube recordings.<\/p>\n<p>As a contributing region to the National Training Program, Region 4 taught over 30 trainings and classes out the 205 trainings and classes across all regions. These sessions attracted more than 2,000 registrants.\u00a0 These sessions covered a wide range of topics\u2014from bioinformatics and biology to community engagement strategies and public health resources. Our training continues to empower librarians, educators, and\u00a0healthcare professionals with the knowledge they need to serve increasingly \u00a0information-hungry populations.<\/p>\n<p>Since May 2021, Region 4 has distributed nearly $741,000 in funding to support innovative, local projects that align with our mission. We offer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/funding\/rfa?field_rfa_status_value=All&amp;field_funding_source_target_id%5B58%5D=58\">three main types of awards<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Professional Development Awards to enhance individual skills and knowledge,<\/li>\n<li>Engagement &amp; Outreach Awards to build local partnerships,<\/li>\n<li>Technology Improvement Awards to expand digital health access.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Projects funded in Year 4 have had a wide-reaching impact by getting funding into communities where they can be used best. From addressing health information gaps for women with Mullerian Anomalies in Montana to fostering fitness and reading initiatives in Tribal Lands in Wyoming, Region 4-supported efforts are bridging gaps in health information access and education. Looking ahead to Year 5 (May 2025\u2013April 2026), we are currently processing new funding applications, signaling continued momentum in supporting people at the community level.<\/p>\n<p>NNLM Region 4 remains committed to transforming health information access across the Mountain West and the desert Southwest.
