Seeking Reviewers for NNLM Y5 Award Applications

Posted in: All Members, Opportunity to participate

NNLM Region 4 is seeking reviewers for our Year 5 funded award applications. If you are passionate about contributing to the future of engagement/outreach and technology improvement projects, this is your opportunity to get involved — and you don’t need to be part of Region 4 or have prior experience as a reviewer.

What’s the Opportunity?

We are currently accepting applications for funding to support engagement/outreach and technology improvement projects. The application period closes on November 15, 2024, at 5:00 pm MT. We need your help to evaluate these applications and ensure that the most impactful projects are selected. For more information about these awards, visit our funding page.

What Will You Be Doing as a Reviewer?

As a reviewer, you’ll evaluate a selection of applications in a confidential and anonymous process. Each application is assigned to 2-3 reviewers, and your role will involve reading through the applications and providing feedback based on a set of predetermined criteria.

Time Commitment: Approximately 2 hours.

Review Timeline:

  • November 25, 2024: You’ll receive a packet with the application materials to review.
  • December 20, 2024: Complete your review(s) by this date.

Why Should You Consider Being a Reviewer?

  • Professional Experience: You will receive a letter from the director of the NNLM Region 4 and National Training Office acknowledging your participation as a grant reviewer for your CV or resume, and potentially for MLA AHIP credit.
  • Possible MLA AHIP Credit: Depending on your professional affiliations, you may be eligible for MLA AHIP credit.
  • Flexible & Impactful: Reviewers are anonymous, and you’ll be part of a collaborative process to support impactful regional projects.

Important Considerations:

  • Conflict of Interest: If you or anyone at your institution is applying for Year 5 funding (performance period May 2025 – April 2026), you won’t be eligible to serve as a reviewer this year.

How to Get Involved:

To confirm your interest in reviewing applications, please email Samantha Nunn at sam.nunn@utah.edu by Monday, November 18, 2024. If you’re interested in reviewing at a later time, feel free to let us know!

We’re excited to work with dedicated individuals like you who are interested in shaping the future of biomedical information access. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions. Thank you for your consideration, and we look forward to your participation!
