This November, NNLM is offering an exciting series of webinars on topics in rural health. The Rural Health Webinar Series includes 8 webinars, exploring the community partnerships and health information resources that address the unique health needs of rural communities. Registration is free and open to all.
Two sessions in the series feature communities in Region 5.
When Your Community is your Hospital

Speakers from Chico State and First 5 Tehama will discuss their partnership to engage with community health workers in rural northern California. With support from the NNLM, the partnership provided training to community health workers on finding evidence-based health information, and local resources, in English and Spanish.
Promoting Walking for Health in Rural Communities

Step it Up Survivors! is a program to encourage cancer survivors and their communities to participate in group-based walking groups. Eighteen rural Oregon libraries agreed to be part of a study comparing the effects of a group walking program, Step It Up versus Step It Up plus a civic engagement program, Change Club, aimed at enhancing walkability, to improve physical activity in rural adults. In this webinar, preliminary findings and implementation outcomes from this ongoing two-year study will be presented.
