Director’s Insights: We Love Region 5!

As we emerge from winter and move into spring, February is a great time to reflect on the parts of your life you love and appreciate. At Region 5, we love the work we do to provide high-quality, engaging learning opportunities for our members.

A great example of this is a recent R5/PNC Health Talk, which highlighted the Keiki Heroes project from the Hawai’i Public Health Institute and was very well received by attendees. One attendee shared,

“This webinar was fantastic. It is so practical and inclusive. I am going to look for ways to tell people about Keiki’s Heroes and to use them as examples. Bravo!”

This is the kind of feedback we love to see from our webinars and helps us to plan more events that will ignite our members’ excitement and curiosity. If you have ideas for other webinar topics you would like to see from us, use our digital suggestion box!
Outside of our work with the NNLM, the Region 5 team has much to appreciate. For me, it’s my family, my health, and the longer, brighter days.
Here’s what the rest of the Region 5 team is excited about this February:
  • Jenny Muilenburg, PI – “I’m grateful for the inkling of spring in the air right now — blooming hellebores, tiny green tips on my fig trees, and chirping birds in the morning.”
  • Carolyn Martin, Outreach & Education Coordinator – “I am thankful for my wonderful colleagues and co-workers who have been so supportive this past year.”
  • Emily Hamstra, Assistant Director – “My dog, because he reminds me that it’s always a good idea to go outside.”
  • Lisa Guerrero, Grant Manager – “Sunny afternoons as we approach springtime.”
Share something special you’re looking forward to this spring in the comments!
