We have a lot of exciting news to share from the Pacific Northwest and beyond! Here’s the scoop for all you need to know about the PubMed redesign update, emergency preparedness, and the return of the RML Rendezvous.

Tuesday, August 11th at 11:30 Pacific, 12:30 Mountain and 10:30 Alaska time – PubMed Redesign Update at https://webmeeting.nih.gov/nlmupdate

Please note that this webinar will be shared with two other regions ranging from Hawaii to Missouri and is limited to 125 attendees as the maximum number of audio outlets available. We strongly encourage people to connect 15 minutes before the start time, and for attendees at institutions to use one connection and listen in via speakerphone. A recording of the session, along with questions and answers, will be posted when available for everyone to access.

George Gottschalk, ARL Career Enhancement Fellow, will discuss wiki community building. In the first part of the presentation he will briefly cover wikis. The ‘Working Together Apart’ session last year covered wikis in 2008, and this presentation is an extension of it, but is less concerned with the technology behind the wiki platform and more interested in the community aspect of building a wiki.

George will cover general information about wiki theory and give a concise overview of a couple of websites that discuss potential best practices for building a wiki community. He will also review the Outreach Connections wiki, a portal for health information and health education professionals doing outreach to native populations,  to examine how a wiki has been designed for professional collaboration and discuss important lessons learned about building a wiki community.
