The U.S. Bone and Joint Decade, the Seattle Public Library, and the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Pacific Northwest Region (NN/LM PNR) have teamed up to launch Fit to a T, the Bone and Joint Decade’s educational program on bone health and osteoporosis.
This event will take place Tuesday, October 25, from 5:30-7:00 pm, at the new Seattle Public Library in downtown Seattle. The address is 1000 Fourth Ave (between Spring and Madison).
It was during the Decade’s National Awareness Week last year that Dr. Carmona, the Surgeon General released his report on bone health and osteoporosis, and this program is our response to his call to action.
The session will be introduced by Sunyoung Yi of the Seattle Public Library, and presented by Susan M. Ott, M.D. Associate Professor, Department of Medicine, University of Washington, along with a patient with osteoporosis, and Gail Kouame of the NN/LM, PNR.
The program is being launched during this year’s Bone and Joint National Awareness Week. Seattle is the main launch city among several communities across the U.S. that will be presenting the program at a public library.
For further information, including background on the program and a press release, please see http://nnlm.gov/pnr/news2006/backgrounder.pdf and http://nnlm.gov/pnr/news2006/seattle_media_alert.pdf
We do hope you can attend! If you work in the Seattle area, please also promote this event to your colleagues and to patients or community members you serve.
